Broccoli Tots

Broccoli Tots

Hello all, I never imagined that I would write a blog about cooking someday. But, here I am. Thanks to all lovely friends and my family who pushed my limits and encouraged me to write one such.

Tots are universal favorite, especially Potatoes. And this Broccoli Tots is nowhere lesser than the one made with Potatoes. Believe me, you can’t stop yourself from eating only one!!! If you are so conscious about eating right, then these Broccoli Tots are a must try. I usually hear from many of my friends that their kids don’t prefer Broccoli. I am sure that these tots are a healthy way to incorporate Broccoli in their daily diet! Make an extra bowl and freeze them for the evening snack! 🙂

Ingredients:

1 Medium Broccoli, cut into small florets
1 Egg, beaten
2/3 Bread Crumbs
2 Garlic Cloves, finely minced
Salt to taste
Pepper
Hot sauce (optional)
1/3 Cheddar Cheese, Finely grated (Kids Friendly * refer below)

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit
2. Add water in a medium saucepan and bring it to boil. Add Broccoli florets in boiling water and simmer it for 2 minutes.
3. Drain and chop the broccoli florets finely. It’s better to add the florets in a food processor and pulse it 2 times.
4. In a bowl, add chopped broccoli, bread crumbs, garlic and egg together. Add salt, pepper and hot sauce and mix well.
5. Leave the mixture in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
6. Once cooled, scoop a mixture in a tablespoon and gently press between your hands into a firm ball and then shape them into a tarter-tot shape.
7. Arrange the tots in the baking sheet.
8. Bake until brown and crispy for 18 -24 minutes, turning them halfway.
9. Remove from oven and enjoy with your favorite sauce – Tomato and Ranch with Tots are a lovely combination
