Masala Chai | Masala Tea

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Masala Chai / Masala Tea – Concoction of black tea and Indian spices and served with warm milk. Perfect for winter evenings!

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” ― Edith Sitwell

Winter is here! I could see the dried leaves spread over my patio, trees blackened without leaves and chillness of the wind in my bones. I had spent all day at home for the last few months as Amma and Appa were with me. Since they flew back home a couple of weeks back, I have been relaxing and re-energizing me. Though the home is surrounded by the emptiness, I could also spend all the time in the world for me. Yes, I am here, being myself and cherishing every moment of my alone time.

Snow is yet to visit Burgh and we are expecting its arrival this week. It is the season of festivals. Winter is the time to be at home and enjoy the comforting food. I would love to spend my winter evenings with a cup of chai/coffee and somedays, with a glass of wine.

Though I am a coffee lover, winter evenings and mornings require a cup of chai to wake me up from my world. Yes – A cup of strong Tea flavored with Indian Spices. While there are numerous versions of masala chai available over the world, this recipe has been my favorite and I have been preparing it often for last three years, especially during winter evenings. Here, I am sipping a warm cup of chai listening to my favorite song and sending you warmth and love in the air.
